Global policy advocacy at the G7 Leaders’ Summit for a National Culture Association

Challenge

The hosting of the 2024 G7 Leaders’ Summit created a unique opportunity for stakeholders to influence global policy outcomes. A national organization representing creative industry interests sought to shape the Leaders’ Communique but faced uncertainty navigating the opaque and fast-moving G7 process. With shifting geopolitical dynamics, including an unpredictable U.S. administration and potential electoral change in Canada, policy direction remained uncertain.

Strategy

StrategyCorp’s Geopolitical and International Business Advisory team developed and executed a plan to align the organization’s objectives with emerging G7 priorities. The approach combined direct engagement with senior decision-makers in Ottawa and key ministries, outreach to G7 Ambassadors, and coordination with international partners in other G7 capitals. The team supported this through targeted intelligence gathering, ongoing briefings, and regular check-ins to adapt to evolving political contexts.

Outcome

The 2025 G7 Leaders’ Communique, chaired by Prime Minister Mark Carney, reaffirmed member states’ commitment to protecting intellectual property rights in the “AI for Prosperity” statement—successfully advancing the organization’s advocacy goals.
