Strategic Challenge

The pandemic meant Lakeridge Health, like most hospital systems, faced enormous operational and communications challenges. StrategyCorp was tapped to provide strategic communications leadership for this five-hospital healthcare system.

Our Approach

StrategyCorp served as a communications lead on Lakeridge Health’s COVID-19 Emergency Operations Leadership Team. As part of this work our people provided strategic communications counsel and executed a crisis management strategy as Lakeridge was tasked with taking over the management of a private long-term care home. The residence was the site of Canada’s worst COVID-19 long-term care outbreak with over 70 deaths. It was also the first location where Canadian Forces were deployed to help provide care and became the focus of national news.


Lakeridge Health’s leadership team demonstrated that the hospital system east of Toronto was ready to manage the impact of the pandemic. And with StrategyCorp’s counsel was able to provide clarity to the community around its efforts to manage its care facilities, while also taking on the challenges of severe outbreaks within the long-term care community in Durham Region.
