In 2023, a Police Services Board in Eastern Ontario retained StrategyCorp to develop a new Strategic Plan for the Police Service. The Board needed a plan that aligned with updated policing legislation while addressing evolving community expectations. The process required meaningful local engagement and a framework grounded in both operational realities and public trust.
Strategy
StrategyCorp partnered with the Board, Chief of Police, and senior leadership to design an inclusive engagement process. Consultations included interviews with the Board, police leadership, and community representatives, complemented by a public survey and pop-up events. A detailed SWOT analysis informed the plan’s foundation, while workshops with the Service and Board validated findings and refined strategic priorities and directions.
Outcome
Approved in March 2024, the Strategic Plan established a shared vision for responsive, community-informed policing. It positioned the Service to adapt to new legislative requirements and strengthen its relationship with the communities it serves.
