Former Stratford CAO Ron Shaw Joins StrategyCorp’s Municipal Team

Shaw joins StrategyCorp’s roster of public affairs, communications, and management consulting experts

January 24, 2017 – Toronto, Ontario – StrategyCorp is pleased to announce Ron Shaw, an experienced leader in the municipal sector, has joined its team as a Senior Advisor. Ken comes to StrategyCorp after more than 35 years in municipal administration; most recently as the City of Stratford’s CAO.

“Ron’s addition enhances StrategyCorp’s robust qualifications as an Ontario municipal affairs powerhouse,” said John Matheson, Principal and General Counsel at StrategyCorp. “Ron’s deep and celebrated experience both as a municipal leader and within municipal associations is testament to the expertise that he’ll bring to our team. StrategyCorp works with municipalities throughout Ontario and elsewhere in Canada, helping them tackle all types of policy, communications and operational challenges.  We pride ourselves on offering sound strategic thinking, and realistic and implementable solutions for clients – not reports that will sit on a shelf.”

During Ron’s 22-year tenure as the City of Stratford’s CAO, he was nominated and awarded by Stratford City Council for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, in recognition of his achievements in local government and the community. Ron also spent 12 years serving as CAO and Treasurer for the Town of Kincardine.  As an instructor at Georgian College, Ron taught both the Municipal Administration Program and the advanced course on Municipal Finance.

Ron is a Past President of the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario and a recipient of their Prestige Award in 2004. Ron is also a Past-President of the Ontario Municipal Administrators’ Association and of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators, which awarded him an honorary life membership award in 2016.

“Ron will join our roster of municipal experts including former Ontario Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs, Michael Fenn, former City of Toronto Manager, Shirley Hoy, former Halton Region Chief Administrative Officer, Pat Moyle and former Toronto Board of Trade Municipal Affairs Advisor, Dave McCleary” added Matheson.  “Together, with our communications, government relations, and management consulting experts, we have arguably the strongest municipal affairs team in Canada.”

Ron graduated from the University of Toronto where he studied Commerce and Finance and Urban Studies. He received a Diploma in Municipal Administration from the Institute of Local Government at Queen’s University.
