Saad Baig
Director
Saad is a Director in StrategyCorp’s Public Affairs group. He brings nearly 12 years of experience working on complex public policy issues both in government and with governments on behalf of clients.
He currently provides strategic advice to clients navigating government relations challenges in a variety of sectors including housing, infrastructure, land use planning, gaming, manufacturing, and professional regulation.
Saad has advised municipalities on key intergovernmental challenges; supported associations on policy, advocacy, communications, member relations and board relations issues; and worked with numerous companies on to resolve regulatory compliance matters.
Prior to entering consulting, Saad served as a senior advisor to cabinet ministers in the Government of Ontario. His last tour of duty was as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Finance where he was a pivotal part of the team that tabled Ontario’s first balanced budget in ten years. Saad served as the lead advisor to the Minister on matters relating to tax policy, economic policy and municipal finance. He led the development of the 2016 Fall Economic Statement and 2017 Ontario Budget in key areas including transportation, infrastructure, economic development, and international trade.
Saad also spent over three years as the lead advisor for infrastructure policy to several ministers where he participated in key negotiations on federal-provincial infrastructure matters, designed municipal funding programs, developed infrastructure planning legislation, and coordinated policy and issues for two crown agencies including Infrastructure Ontario.
He holds a degree from the University of Waterloo in Economics with a specialization in Finance and previously served on the board of the Public Affairs Association of Canada (Ontario).
