Nathan Cullen

Nathan Cullen is a seasoned public policy leader and strategic advisor with more than two decades of experience in elected office, Indigenous relations, natural resource governance, and strategic planning. Based in Northwestern British Columbia, Nathan brings a deep understanding of regional, national, and Indigenous issues across rural and resource-based communities.
Nathan served for 15 years as the Member of Parliament for Skeena-Bulkley Valley, representing a large and diverse constituency in Northern BC. During his time in federal politics, he held senior critic roles in Environment, Finance, and Natural Resources, and served as House Leader for the Official Opposition. Recognized for his collaborative style and principled leadership, Nathan was named Parliamentarian of the Year on five occasions and was widely regarded for his work in climate policy, electoral reform, and Indigenous reconciliation.
Following his federal tenure, Nathan returned to public service in British Columbia’s provincial government, where he was elected MLA for Stikine and appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs and later Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship. In these portfolios, he was responsible for advancing resource co-management with Indigenous Nations, supporting municipal infrastructure development, and overseeing complex land use and environmental regulatory matters during a time of significant policy transition in BC.
Prior to entering politics, Nathan led Maravilla Consulting, where he supported private, non-profit, and public sector clients as a facilitator and strategic planner, including international development work across Latin America and Africa. He has remained active in consulting since 2019, founding Nathan Cullen Strategies Ltd., which supports Indigenous organizations and public sector clients in areas such as engagement, planning, and governance.
Nathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in International/Global Studies from Trent University and a diploma in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute of British Columbia. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor with StrategyCorp, bringing his wealth of experience in government relations, policy development, and stakeholder engagement to clients across Canada.
