John Perenack
Principal
John is a Principal at StrategyCorp. He is a strategic communications and public affairs expert who has been providing guidance and counsel on reputation and how to communicate with government, media, communities, and other stakeholders for over 25 years.
He is also a specialist in crisis communications and reputation management, helping organizations educate, inform and persuade stakeholders to shape opinion and position clients for success. His work in high-stakes communications includes kidnapping, financial crime, allegations involving criminal staff misconduct in the education and health care sectors, and controversial mergers & acquisitions within Canada, and internationally in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
He is an authority on helping organizations use digital and traditional media to influence opinion and help clients tackle the toughest of issues.
During his career, John’s communications and stakeholder engagement experience has involved designing and executing communications and engagement strategies to move forward complex and controversial projects including a $500 million waterfront development, a $1.4 billion highway project, major energy industry capital projects in Alberta and British Columbia, providing guidance on engagement around the creation of a new nuclear waste repository, and numerous strategic communications and engagement processes in support of advancing private development projects.
He has also advised on First Nations and urban Indigenous engagement processes to collaborate with and build lasting partnerships with Indigenous peoples in numerous provinces.
John holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Strategic Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University and has earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
John’s professional affiliations include the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI), the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), and the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Federation.
