Ontario Police Services Board Chair Survey 2023

In this paper, StrategyCorp’s Municipal Services Practice Group explores what is working well and what needs to change when it comes to municipal police service governance. StrategyCorp spoke with the chairs of 20 of Ontario’s police services boards, which are the civilian bodies that govern police services in Ontario, including those who represent both large and small communities, and those that are relatively stable in size to those that are growing rapidly.

This paper provides an honest look into the trends and challenges that police services boards are facing, from the mental health and addiction crisis to meeting public expectations and the pressures associated with costs and human resources.
