Rob Nicol is Vice President at StrategyCorp, bringing with him over 20 years of experience as a strategic advisor to CEOs and government leaders.
Rob’s career has allowed him to hone the skills critical to solving complex business, strategic communications and public affairs challenges. His experience in the hot seat of government and with one of Canada’s largest retailers gives him a unique understanding of the value of a multi-disciplinary perspective to each client engagement.
Whether he is developing strategies and executing plans for mergers and acquisitions, crisis communication, employee communication, issues management, or corporate communications , Rob brings the same sense of urgency and rigour to each assignment. He strongly believes that creating the conditions for success requires a strategic approach to the substance, politics and perception of the issue and a thorough understanding of the many factors at play.
Throughout his career Rob has been involved in a wide range of issues and industries, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, laboratory services, transportation, infrastructure, financial services, retail, environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.
Rob has served both the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Ontario as strategic communications counsel. In his corporate life, Rob was Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Canadian Tire Corporation where he was responsible for internal and external communications, retail operations communications and government relations for Canadian Tire, Canadian Tire Financial Services, FGL Sports, Mark’s and Jumpstart. At Canadian Tire, Rob and his team won a number of national and international business communications and government relations awards.
Prior to Canadian Tire, Rob served as Vice President, Communications and Government Relations at 407 Express Toll Route, the world’s first all-electronic, barrier-free toll highway. Working with the company’s Spanish, Australian and Canadian shareholders, Rob helped the company manage a number of high-profile media, political and legal issues while developing and implementing a plan to significantly increase the company’s corporate reputation amongst customers and key stakeholders.
Rob is a graduate of Queen’s University with a B.A. in History and a Masters of Public Administration.
